The elephant never forgets

There are many qualities for which elephants are admired. Their memory and ability to learn commands, for example, inspired the idiom "to have a memory like an elephant". In comparison with other species, elephants also demonstrate a strong sense of sociability and loyalty with one another. Females in particular prefer to live together in groups led by a matriarch. Why not also foster this conviviality in your home? Pick a bright, playful elephant for the kids and couple it with a retro cushion for a colourful, stylish touch.

A mammoth-size cult

Across the world, elephants provide religious, spiritual and political inspiration. They feature in Hinduism in the form of the widely-worshipped God Ganesh, who stands for wisdom and intellect. Several political parties in India also proudly exhibit elephant symbols as a marker of power and longevity. Yet the creatures' renown extends much further than the realms of Eastern spirituality and symbolism. From the film Dumbo to JUNIQE elephant cushions, the friendly giants are anchored in the culture and psyche of the Western hemisphere, too.

Your domestic safari

One thing that us Westerners cannot emulate, however, is the climate which elephants inhabit. Native to Asia and Africa, they are accustomed to temperatures much higher than our own—hence their large, heat-loss facilitating ears. How to make your elephant pillows look and feel at home? Accompany them with other cushions featuring plants, flowers, antelope and giraffes. By cultivating your very own safari in this way, you'll not only create a child-friendly homegrown zoo, but also satiate your desire to hop on the next plane over to Sri Lanka.
