Ruling the roost

Our feathered friends are some of the most widely depicted creatures in popular culture, even if they may not always be the protagonists. Here at JUNIQE, our bird cushions feature everything from the seagulls in Finding Nemo to the stars of the Ugly Duckling. Just like the cultural representations of birds, our home accessories thus demonstrate great diversity. Part and parcel of this is the more serious side of avian symbolism. Think the likes of To Kill a Mockingbird, the aesthetic equivalent of which would be, for example, our atmospheric black and white bird cushions.

Spread those wings

"I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky". Back in the 90s, R. Kelly perfectly lyricised the feeling of hope, freedom, passion that birds induce in us terrestrials. They're a positive leitmotif in songs of all genres, from Bob Marley's reggae to Nelly Furtado's R&B. They're also a running theme in countless idioms, including "Birds of a feather, flock together". One species particularly renowned for literally "flocking together" is flamingos. You can emulate this harmonious coexistence by laying some flamingo pillows into your nest of bird cushions.
