Flutter through history

Butterflies have fascinated us throughout the ages. As far back as ancient Egypt, they have inspired our animal art through paintings, carvings and jewellery. From Japanese folklore to Aztec civilisations, the Roman Empire to Ancient Greece, they have come to symbolise the personification of the soul.

In other cultures, they symbolise rebirth and transgender identity—through their ability to transform into a new, beautiful being, casting away their cocoon and former self. Reincarnate your walls with spectacular butterfly art for an interior full of soul.

The butterfly effect

Can the flapping of a Brazilian butterfly's wings trigger a tornado in Texas? Chaos theory pioneer Edward Lorenz used the image of a butterfly as a metaphor to explain the unpredictability of meteorological phenomena. According to the butterfly effect, small changes in our atmosphere can snowball into larger events later.

Butterflies tend to be quite harmless creatures though, preferring to fly from flower to flower and enjoy a sip of nectar rather than cause any trouble. But a beautiful butterfly fluttering by is sure to change the course of your day—for the better.

Hiding in plain beauty

Dazzling pinions printed with a myriad of kaleidoscopic patterns. The beautiful wings of the butterfly capture our attention and attract our aesthetic admiration. For many of these flying beings, however, they are more than just eye candy—they’re a lifeline.

While some enchant mates with a stunning coat of vivid colours, others camouflage themselves to evade prowling predators through leafy cloaks and deceptive eyespots. Colourise your cocoon with butterfly prints that allure your guests. Especialy the little ones.
